Swedish King offers Halla and Birni for a three -day visit


Karl Gústaf King of Sweden and Silvia Queen invite the presidential couple Halla Tómasdóttir and Birni Skúlason to a three -day state visit, which starts in Stockholm today.

The aim of the visit, according to the website of the President of Iceland, is to strengthen the relationship between the countries and to work on further cooperation, for example in the fields of health, film making and security. The Icelandic Agency leads a business delegation with representatives of 30 Icelandic companies with a focus on biotechnology, innovation and investment. On the occasion of the visit is also a delegation in the field of television and film making, which participates in a program organized by the Swedish Institute and the Swedish Foreign Ministry, together with the Icelandic Film Center and Film in Iceland.

Today’s program begins with a reception at the royal palace in Stockholm. Following it at a deficit meeting with the President of the Legislative Assembly, Andreas Norlén, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and other delegations. At the end of lunch with the royal couple, the President and Foreign Minister have a similar meeting with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. Next, a boat owned by the Swedish Coast Guard is inspected.
