After many years as half of Denmark’s most famous music duo, Sussi has now embarked on a new chapter in life. A chapter that should be filled with joy and support for someone – but which for the couple Sussi and Steen unfortunately also offered a stream of hateful messages.
Because even though love is blooming, not everyone is ready to let go of the past.
From scene to sorrow
Sussi and Leo were inseparable for decades – both private and professional. Their name was synonymous with colorful stage show, popular charm and eternal love.
But illness changed everything when Leo passed away after a long battle.
Only after a break from the limelight, and after returning to life on his own, did Sussi have since found with Steen. A relationship that quickly evolved and ended up in a wedding in Saltum – with a change of name: Sussi Nørholm Hansen.
Visit at Leo’s grave met with hatred
The newlywed couple has not tried to cover the past. On the contrary, they publicly shared that they had visited Leo’s grave on his birthday. But what was a loving gesture for them triggered violent reactions to social media.
According to Steen, several have written direct hateful comments on Sussi – some so gross that they wanted her deadly illness.
« I’m sorry and angry that they say that Sussi forgot Leo. It’s as untrue as something it can be. That people even write that they will hope she dies of cancer. It’s totally galimatias. There is also not a fact list of when you finish grief, right? » says Steen to TV 2 Nord.
Among the noise, however, many have also shown understanding and support, and both Sussi and Steen have been open about both their relationship and the challenges it has brought. But for Sussi, Time with Leo is not something you forget – and the love of Steen is not in contrast to what has been.
