Suspicious stabbing Amsterdam is a 30-year-old man from Ukraine
The suspect of the stabbing near the Dam in Amsterdam is a 30-year-old man from Ukraine. That the police announced on Saturday. The man comes from the Donetsk, the region occupied by Russia in the east of Ukraine. He will be brought before 1 April to the examining magistrate of the court in Amsterdam, who will assess whether he will be stuck for two weeks longer.
The man is suspected of having stabbed five people on Thursday in various places around St. Nicolaasstraat, in the center of Amsterdam. He was then arrested with the help of a bystander, a British tourist.
The injured are two Americans, a pool, a Belgian and a Dutch one. According to the police, the Polish man has since left the hospital. The remaining four victims are still being treated in the hospital, their condition is stable. The suspect himself was also treated in the hospital on Thursday on an injury to his leg, then he was transferred to the penitentiary institution in Scheveningen.
The motive of the suspect is not yet known, the police investigation team is tracing that. It is clear, however, that the suspect used several blades in the stabbing. It is also known that on Wednesday, a day before the stabbing, he registered at a hotel in Amsterdam.
