In Den Dolder, the murder of the woman loosened a lot. In 2017 a similar incident already occurred in the village, when the Michael P. also included in the clinic the 25-year-old Anne Faber killed. During a residents’ meeting at the beginning of January, the villagers demanded that the municipality would take extra safety measures.
They also wanted to accelerate closing the forensic-psychiatric clinic. The institution has been looking for a new location for about ten years, so far without success. Other municipalities often do not see the arrival of Fivoor, partly due to the incidents around the clinic in Den Dolder.

Deadline
In the meantime, Fivoor has a hard deadline. On January 1, 2027, the Den Dolder care institution must have left. To get a shot in the business, the municipality of Zeist asked an external agency last year for potential locations. During a new residents’ meeting, at the beginning of March, the agency reported to estimate twelve locations as’ promising ‘, of which six had already fallen off at that time.
Alderman Walter van Dijk (Finance, VVD) said that the remaining six buildings or plots are all in the hands of the empire. So he hopes that State Secretary Ingrid Coenradie (Justice and Security, PVV) will mediate. A municipal spokesperson could not report new developments on Monday.
With, among other things, extra police surveillance on the street and better lighting along walking routes around the forest, where Fivoor is located, the municipality hopes that residents feel safer again. The usual walking route from Fivoor patients to the village center was also diverted at the beginning of this April. A fence of two meters high should close a staircase that leads to the Duivenhorst district in order to prevent the patients from walking through the neighborhood.
