Suspect of assault in Rotterdam arrested in Barcelona

A man who is suspected of assaulting nine women in Rotterdam at the end of last year and early this year was arrested last weekend in the Spanish city of Barcelona. The police have that on Friday morning reported. The 34-year-old man has no permanent place of residence or residence and is stuck in Spain until he is extradited to the Netherlands.

Last weekend the local police in Barcelona carried out a check, in which the officers found out that an arrest warrant had been issued against the 34-year-old man. In February, the Dutch police already suspected that the man of assault was possibly abroad. After a call in January, the police had received ‘dozens of tips’ about the assault.

The first Reports of assaultin the Rotterdam Center and Rotterdam Noord districts, arrived at the police in mid -November 2024. The women who reported were bothered, especially during going out. At the time, the police wrote that it was probably one suspect and called women to be ‘extra alert’.

The last reported incident with the suspect took place on January 4 of this year. Initially, six victims reported, and that number continued to rise to nine in the first months of this year.
