Superlative choir concerts in the Philharmonie

Soprano, old, tenor and bass: Choral singing rarely fulfills the Philharmonie. But that changes on several appointments in March, because two choir projects have announced themselves for the first days of the spring month.
« The Singing Circus »
On Sunday, March 2, a variety of choirs will meet in the Philharmonie: the WDR radio choir came from Cologne. The singers from the German Carnival stronghold will be performed together with school and lay choirs from Luxembourg (including the popchouer of the Lycée Classique d'Echternach and the school choir of the German-Luxemburg-Lyzeum Perl) « Zoe-Circus in My Mind » by the British composer Bob Chilcott. The piece is an order composition by the Philharmonie and the WDR radio and television station. Chilcott was active as a singer for a long time and, as a member of the King's Singers, one of the figureheads of the choral scene worldwide.

Conductor Simon Halsey already toured the Grand Duchy with the singers from Cologne this week and visits school choirs to rehearse and appear together. The end of the musical journey is the joint concert on Sunday. The piece « Zoes (singing) diary – Circus in My Mind » addresses the « circus in the head » that teenagers have to experience during puberty. Kika presenter André Gatzke leads through the concert.

« Messa da Requiem » by Giuseppe Verdi
The requiem of the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) is on the agenda a weekend later-and twice: On March 8th and 9th, the Chascia de Chambre de Luxembourg, the European Academic Orchestra and the Musique Militaire Grand-Ducale and four soloists under the direction of Antonio Grosu will perform.
The Chœur de Chambre de Luxembourg celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2025. The concert weekend with over 200 musicians on the stage is the second big highlight of the season for the ensemble.
