In the years preceding the Region had almost regularly chosen to anticipate the summer sales, especially on 2 July, to make the commercial activities of the cities of Potenza and Matera more competitive compared to the nearby regions.
Duration
But how long will the sales last and what are the rules? Regional regulations provide for some limitations for promotions made in the days preceding the sales period. In many regions it is forbidden to make promotional sales in the 30 days prior to the start of the discounts. In others, such as Puglia or Calabria, the ban is reduced to 15 days respectively. A rule introduced by Legislative Decree 26/2023, receiving a European directive, also requires merchants the obligation to indicate the lowest price practiced in the 30 days preceding the discount, in order to protect consumers and guarantee greater transparency.
