Summer centers, increased by 23% in two years: it takes 1,400 euros per child. What are the bonuses (not for everyone)

The umpteenth school year ended and children and teenagers have about one hundred days of summer to enjoy before returning to the desks, in most Italian regions on September 15th. This period, however,, It can be an economic commitment from the point of view of parents Which, professionally active but without the support of other family members, will be forced to find a more expensive solution, between babysitters and summer centers. The latter, moreover, according to the Adoc-Eures survey, recorded a 12% increase compared to last year and even more than 22.7% from 2023.

The increases, Milan the most dear city

For the third consecutive year, the study has carried out a mapping of about 200 structures in eight Italian cities (Milan, Turin, Bologna, Rome, Florence, Naples, Bari and Palermo) and it emerges that the average weekly cost for a full -time summer center – among those organized by public institutions, which obviously is accessed only by ranking – is at around 173 euros. The differences between North and South

Comparing the data of this year with those of 2023 and 2024, at a territorial level the greater increase compared to two years ago is recorded in the center: the weekly costs increased by 39 euros (+31.7%). In the North we are on the order of 30 euros (+18.9%), while in the south of 29 (+27.6%).

The bonus of up to 400 euros of the INPS

The average increase in costs in two years is decidedly higher than the annual inflation data (which in Italy was 5.7% in 2023, 1% in 2024 and is estimated to 1.7% in 2025). It is here, therefore, that some measures come into play to help families. The best known is the INPS summer center bonus: to the families of employees or pensioners of the PA enrolled in the unitary management of the social security institute, with children between 3 and 14 years of age are entitled to 100 euros for each week of courses, for a maximum of 400 euros (for each child). It will in fact be a refund that will arrive after the summer, by December 21 of the current year. A maximum of 3,000 contributions will be paid, giving priority to families with the lowest ISEE: up to 8 thousand euros, in fact, the 100%refund is up to 100%; It drops to 95% for 24 thousand euros in Isee, then again to 90% for 32 thousand, 85% of up to 56 thousand euros and 80% beyond or 56 thousand euros or for those who have not presented the family wealth indicator. The announcement to request will open at 12 noon on June 26, until October 15, on the INPS online portal.

Local incentives

Other initiatives are regional, municipal or categories of workers. Many structures in the main cities offer calm or partial reimbursements for extra school activities in the summer. In Rome, for example, it is the individual municipalities that establish the cost bands, while the Municipality of Bari offers weekly contributions of 75 euros (for a maximum of 300 euros for four weeks) for families with Isee less than 25 thousand euros. For the same band, Bologna reserves a fixed contribution of 300 euros for each registered child. Regional, Emilia Romagna reserves up to 300 euros (maximum 100 per week) for families with ISEE under 26 thousand euros; Umbria has established a weekly bonus of up to about 60 euros and Lazio provides for a 500 euro sport bonus to be used also for courses in summer centers.
