Civil War no end to Sudan

Sudan, the third largest country in Africa, has sunk in April 2023 into a war for power, between General Abdel Fatah al -Burhan, De Fako leader of the country after the 2021 coup, and his former deputy, his former deputy,

The two warring sides are accused of attacking the Coma. Deta say that « the hub was deliberately targeted » while the government accuses paramilitaries of attacking unmanned aircraft trucks.

Koma’s attack is « in the series of attacks on humanitarian operations » in Sudan, PAM and UNICEF estimate, denouncing the « impunity » of the perpetrators. Last Thursday, PAM’s offices in El Fasher (the city is besieged by the paramilitary by May 2024) « destroyed by repeated bombings » of IT.

Coma is about 80 kilometers from El Fasser, in a strategic Darfur zone, where there are fierce clashes in recent weeks.

Many of the humanitarian aid trucks were set on fire.

Rapid Response Forces – RSF try to understand El Fasser

After losing the capital of Khartoum in March, the DIA focused on western Sudan attacks, with the aim of occupying El Fasser, the last provincial capital that does not yet control.

The UN says that three camps around the city are already in a state of stake and five other zones, including El Fasser itself, may also be declared in a stated state soon.

The war in Sudan, which entered the third year, has led to the deaths of thousands of people. About 13 million are displaced and much of the country is starving. According to the UN, this conflict caused the « biggest humanitarian crisis » in the world.

About 4 million people have left Sudan in recent years, according to Eujin Biun, the UNHCR representative for refugees. Of these, 1.5 million headed to Egypt, over 1.1 million in South Sudan (800,000 were South Sudanese in Sudan) and at least 850,000 in Chad.

About a month ago, 68,556 refugees arrived at the provinces of Wady and Chad’s eastern Entity. Nearly 1,400 people have been crossing the border daily in recent days.
