Street art in the market / day
For the fourth year, Dainis Autumn Artist’s workshop has entered the factory Provodnik premises in Sarkandaugava. The industrial building, which has long been longing for technical improvements, is a peculiar center of production, creativity and various projects. Its territory on one side of the rest of the city is a concrete fence, which has already served as a canvas for street art works at events organized by Dainis and like -minded people. This year the street art festival was made with a wider scope and moved to the Agenskalns Market
Up to the Baltic level
Already this Sunday, June 8, the Baltic Street Art Festival will take place in the Agenskalns market Row Baltics ((Riga Open Wall Baltics). The festival will be attended by representatives of street art, hip -hop and DJs from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The event program highlights two main events: street art fight Baltic Clash and a battle fight Agenskalns Market Clash. Throughout the day, street artists will create large -scale wall paintings on different wall sections, but from two o’clock the Baltic Beaters (Music Producers) will fight for the best title, playing their own bits in front of the audience and professional jury. In the evening, the event will end with a word fight in which the group will participate Nationalists and rap improvisation theater Speech project.
« Although there is no shortage of suitable walls, for various reasons, there is no room for street artists to draw freely, » says Dainis Autumn, telling about the idea of creating the festival. « That’s why everything started. Four years ago I dwelled Provodnika indoors. I also encountered Kiwie, a street artist, who I had previously collaborated with. We noticed this big and long fence, and the idea was made more colorful. We talked to the operator and received permission to denote it. In 2023 we organized the first event, but last year we were joined by rapper Ansis. This was what the idea was made for the battles of the bits. Artists from Tallinn and Vilnius had also come, even though the initial concept of the event was not international. We decided that this year we will organize the festival at the Baltic level and there would also be representatives from Helsinki and Amsterdam. The development of this event has a snowball effect – the more you do, the more people want to be part of it. «
