Strawberry moon this week. When is it best to watch the fullness?
The strawberry moon is a name that regularly returns in June. This year, the appearance of the moon will have a unique character. The fullness falls on the moment when the moon’s orbit is arranged in a way that is conducive to a rare phenomenon – the earth satellite will be extremely low above the horizon. This means that his shield will seem larger and more colorful than usual.
Strawberry moon. The charming fullness happens once every 18 years
The strawberry moon is a term that comes from the traditions of native Americans – June was the month of a collection of wild strawberries. However, not only the name impresses. This year, the fullness falls extremely low above the horizon, which intensifies its intense, orange-red color. This is the result of the so -called lunar illusion, which makes the satellite seem larger than usual.
The culmination of the fullness will take place on June 11 at 9.43 in the morning, but the most beautiful moments to observe fall for the evening of June 10 and night of 10 to 11. It is then, just after sunset, the moon will appear low above the horizon line – large, bright and spectacular.
Where is the best to observe the strawberry moon?
In Poland, we will find many places ideal for admiring the phenomenon. Baltic beaches, mountain clearing or Masurian meadows will provide ideal conditions – a clean sky and a wide perspective. Municipal viewpoints, e.g. the Krakus Mound, Sky Tower or Góra Three Crosses in Kazimierz Dolny, will also work great. In Świnoujście, the local community already announces joint walks and picnics under the sky.
Full moon and well -being. Fact or myth?
As research shows, the fullness can affect our dream – it shortens it, worsens its quality, increases susceptibility to awakening. In old cultures, the time was identified with a moment of spiritual power. Today, many use this time for meditation, writing intentions or rituals of purification.
Another full in 2025 – what else for us?
Further moon phenomena soon. In July, the fullness of thunder (13.07), and then Jesiotra (12.08), harvest (10.09) and hunters (9.10) await us. Each of them has its own symbolism and aesthetics – however, we will not see such a spectacular phenomenon as this year’s strawberry fullness for the next 18 years.
