Lidl staff members blocked the five Belgian depots of the department store chain on Thursday morning. Action is required for the high workload and sales targets. « It can’t go any further, » said ACV Puls trade union.

Since 3 o’clock Thursday morning there are blockages of the Depots in Genk, Sint-Niklaas, Gullegem, La Louvière and Marche-en-Famenne. « The list of frustrations of staff is long, » says the ACV Puls trade union, the largest trade union within Lidl, in a press release. « Stores are structural understill, students are counted as full -time forces and employees must reorganize the entire store layout every week. The administration also hates point: a weekly ‘briefing’ of fifty A4s has become just about the standard  », it sounds.

According to the trade unions, the problems have been raised for more than two years, without the result being given. « We now receive daily signals from the workplace: it can’t go further. »

On Thursday, no stores will be supplied by the blockages. The trade union requires that Lidl management will come up with a concrete plan at the latest on 10 June to improve the situation. « If not, together with the French -speaking trade union CNE, we will prepare a strike notice for the stores. »

Lidl regrets the campaign strongly and points out that a national trade union meeting is planned on Tuesday. « There has been no consultation with the activists involved in advance, while Lidl always strives for a structural dialogue, » says Lidl, that emphasizes that he will continue to talk to the trade unions.
