Stocker receives the keys to the Chancellery – Diepresse.com
Christian Stocker wants to be « a Chancellor for everyone ». And emphasizes that he wants to exercise the office of head of government « with creative will ». Also today, the public donations to Andreas Babler and Beate Meinl-Reisinger and the new finance minister Markus Marterbauer take place.
Austria's first triple coalition is in office: Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen praised the turquoise-red-pink government on Monday. The so-called certificate of order ÖVP chairman Christian Stocker, who can call himself Chancellor of the Republic today, was the first to be signed. He received the keys to the Chancellery at 12.45 p.m. from the head of interim government Alexander Schallenberg, who had taken over the post after Karl Nehammer's resignation (both ÖVP). « Welcome, in your new house, » said Schallenberg.
« I'm not saying at home, but you will be here a lot, » added Schallenberg and knocked Stocker on the shoulder. Two months ago, he would not have thought that the handover of the office could be « so friendly », SCHALLENBERG alluded to him without FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl. « The house here, the civil service will take you with open arms, » said Schallenberg. « I am really happy to be able to hand over this house – with your prudence, with your straightness, with your consequence and with your smile in the corner of your mouth. »

SCHALLENBERG emphasized that he was an honor on “the forefront” of Austria. Although he would go off the field, the « red and white-red jersey would not move out ». He is pleased that there is a « strong pro -European government with you at the top », which clearly understands that « closing lucks » is not an option, but that international engagement is important in a phase, « where there is a lot at stake ».
Stocker thanked Schallenberg for the « warm and very appreciative words », the reception in the Federal Chancellery « and our friendship ». Schallenberg filled the office of Chancellor in his very own, special way that Austria would have brought.
Today he stands with very respect for all Austrians, then Stocker turned to the public. There is a lot to do and he promises to meet the responsibility « together with my team, with the coalition partners (…) with great joy, but also a great will to design ». He wanted to be a « Chancellor for everyone », not just for those that « chose me ». He wanted to fill out the will to do the next few years to do the « right one for Austria and over nine million people in our country ».
After this sentence, Schallenberg and Stocker went rapid steps without admitting any questions. One thing can still be added as quite secured: the government declaration in the National Council will probably follow the National Council on Friday.
Handover to Meinl-Reisinger follows
It is also clear: It is not the last date of Schallenberg who has announced that he wants to leave the political parquet: At 2 p.m. the diplomat will be handed over to the new foreign minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger (Neos).
As early as 1.30 p.m., Federal Minister Ad Werner Kogler (Greens) will be handed over to Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister Andreas Babler and State Secretary Michaela Schmidt (both SPÖ). At the same time, the Ministry of Finance of Gunter Mayr passes Markus Marterbauer (SPÖ) and State Secretary Barbara Eibinger-Miedl (ÖVP).
Return visits kindergarten
The new Minister of Education, Christoph Return, is now using the time after his commissioning to pay a visit to a kindergarten. The reason: For the first time, the kindergarten will be integrated in the education department and a second mandatory kindergarten year is introduced.
Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP), who will continue to carry out his office, which is why there is no need to hand over a key to the key, has planned a meeting with the ministry's executives in order to explain the focus on the coming years. In addition, the State Secretary in the Interior Ministry, Jörg Leichtfried (SPÖ), is presented.
