The majority parties have not yet succeeded in reaching an agreement in the Chamber on Monday about a position on the war in Gaza. Perhaps white smoke will follow this week.
The Arizona parties in the Federal Parliament have been negotiating a position in the conflict between Israel and Palestine for days. The fact that that costs blood, sweat and tears has to do with N-VA and MR on the one hand and ahead and CD&V on the other hand who think differently about the file. With Les Engagés somewhere in between. The five government parties did work out a compromise for the coalition agreement, but due to the much more intense war, the ascending number of deaths and Israel that Gaza starters out, the indignation has increased in recent weeks and a Belgian position is becoming increasingly urgent.
The UN conference on the conflict at the beginning of June in New York also encourages parliamentary members. Frans President Emmanuel Macron wants to make an attempt to push through a two-state solution together with Saudi Arabia. Prime Minister Bart De Wever (N-VA) already announced that he wanted to support the initiative of the French president.

With a resolution in the Chamber, the prime minister does not rise too high. « The Macron initiative could make a difference, much more than a resolution (…) that mainly serves for public opinion and our good feeling, but with which no Palestinian will be helped, » the Prime Minister told the VRT on Sunday evening.
On Monday, the majority parties still played on the resolution that should be thrown on the table during the plenary meeting on Thursday. According to different sources, a deal is imminent. There would be an agreement on what the government’s chamber will demand, but not everything is yet about the introduction and the argumentation. The MR had to test a few more points on Monday evening. The question is, among other things, whether the resolution will argue for recognition of the Palestinian State and whether sanctions against Israel. (Fem)
