Steve Witkoff: Now we know what Putin desires
In an interview with Fox News, Witkoff calls the meeting in St. Petersburg for « Compelling » (approximately: « convincing »). He says it lasted almost five hours and that two of Putin’s heaviest advisors, Jurij Usjakov and Kirill Dmitryev, were involved.
– It was a convincing meeting. And finally – I do not mean « finally » as in that we had been waiting for it, but it took us for a while to get this far – we came to what Putin desires for us to get a permanent peace (in Ukraine), Witkoff says.
The 68-year-old businessman Last winter was named US President Donald Trump’s peacekeeper to the Middle East. Although he is a businessman without previous diplomatic experience, he has also taken over the probes about a ceasefire in the Ukraine war. But now he thinks that a full -scale peace can be within reach – but without going into details.
– I think we can be at the threshold for something that would be very, very important for the world at large.
This was Witkoffs Third meeting with Putin, and the new board in the United States, during the process, has received harsh criticism for being flat for Putin’s line in Russia’s attack war against Ukraine.
This time, too, Witkoff does not press any counterclaim from the United States. However, he signals business opportunities.
– I think it is possible to renounce the relationship Russia – USA through very convincing commercial opportunities, which I believe can provide proper stability in the region as well.
