Union has announced resistance
Thyssenkrupp Steel put plans on the table in November last year, according to which the number of jobs should shrink from almost 27,000 to 16,000 within six years. 5000 jobs are to be dismantled by “adjustments to production and administration” by the end of 2030 and 6,000 other positions are outsourced to external service providers or business sales by outsourcing, as the company announced.
IG Metall had reacted with sharp criticism and announced « bitter resistance ». At the end of last year, the union as a preliminary condition for negotiations demanded that operational terminations and location closings should be excluded and that long -term financing must be for the company.
