STB suspends the circulation of trams
STB SA intends to temporarily suspend the circulation of trams on Bessarabia Boulevard.
In view of the advanced state of degradation of the tram tread on Bd. Basarabia, the Bucharest Transport Company (STB SA) intends to temporarily interrupt the traffic of the trams between the section between Chisinau and the Terminal Republic, it states in a statement.
To ensure the continuity of the public transport service in the eastern area of the capital, starting with the date of April 12, 2025STB SA will implement a series of provisional solutions that allow the traffic in safe conditions and maintaining the transport connections, as follows:
• Construction of a tram circulation relationship at the intersection of Bd. Basarabia / Chisinau Bd.
• Arrangement of a provisional terminal type « Rebrusment » on Bd. 1 December 1918, until the intersection with Bessarabia Boulevard.
In order to reduce the impact on the passengers, within the first stage, which will start on the same date, the following measures will be applied:
• Line 36 tram will run on a modified route, between Lake Tei and the Terminal Pantelimon;
• A buse shuttle line will be entered – 637 – which will work between the terminal Republic and the Dolphin Square.
The tram rolling path on Bd. Bessarabia is about 40 years old, being put into operation in 1985. Currently, due to the advanced degree of wear, over 600 rail ruptures are recorded, which significantly affects the traffic in this artery.
