Start work at Henri Coanda Airport

The National Airports Company Bucharest (CNAB) transmitted the order to start the modernization works at Henri Coandă International Airport, an investment of 112,422 million lei, from its own funds.

‘As a result of the approval of the technical project’ Modernization of terminals and building bodies existing at AIHCB ‘, the National Airports Company of Bucharest has today transmitted, May 16, the order to start the works. The investment will be carried out for a period of 30 months, and the contract has a total value of 112,421,921.98 lei, the source of financing being the own funds of the National Airports Company ‘, according to a CNAB statement.

The investment has four fundamental objectives for the modernization of the airport and for increasing the comfort offered to the airport passengers. One of the objectives aims to change and modernize the centralized ventilation-climatization system. In this regard, the project provides for the replacement of ventilation and air conditioning equipment, replacing the equipment management server and making a modern order, automatic control and data acquisition system.

The works also have the objective of the interior redevelopment (finishes, floors, ceilings, signals, etc.), to improve the imaging quality of the most important airport of Romania.

Another objective of the contract is to install a new fire detection-signaling system.

Also, the electrical installations at the airport will be modernized. The project provides for the modernization of the lighting of the terminals and the building bodies, to be installed LED lighting, which will determine an important reduction in electricity consumption. At the same time, the number of power sockets for passenger devices will be supplemented.

‘Given the type of works (such as decoperings of the floor, ceilings, pillars), it is possible to occur moments when passengers feel a certain discomfort when transiting the areas where the modernization works are performed. The execution of the works will be performed, so that the passenger flows are operational, and the discomfort of the passengers is acceptable ‘, mentions the representatives of the airport company.

In the first stage, which will start on May 19, works will be carried out on the ground floor the old departure terminal, as well as in the bond between departures and arrivals.

The modernization works of the Otopeni Airport will be executed by the association of UTI Construction and Facility Management SA-Somet SA-Re-by Now Architecture SRL.
