Start a state visit to Norway tomorrow


The President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir, and her husband, Björn Skúlason, will start his three -day state visit tomorrow to Norway, where both Oslo and Trondheim will go.

This is stated in a statement from the office of the President of Iceland.

It also states that the aim of the visit is to further strengthen the historical relationship between Iceland and Norway and to work towards the common interests of the nations, including in the field of defense, culture and improved mental health.

Three generations of the royal family present

The hosts of the presidential couple will become Harald V. King and Queen Sonja along with Crown Prince Hacon and Mette-Marit Crown Princess. In addition, their oldest daughter, Ingrid Alexandra Princess, participates in her first state visit, and three generations of the Norwegian royal family will be present at the reception of Halla and Bjarnar at the Oslo Palace.

The President MA will visit Akershusvirkjun and lay the flower crane from the Icelandic nation to a memorial to Norwegians who fell in World War II.

The Norwegian Parliament will also be visited as well as the Business University Bi Norweian Business School, which will be held and the President will discuss with students, staff and other audiences about responsible leadership.

Likewise, the Niðarós Cathedral will be visited, but it is rooted deeply in the common history of Iceland and Norway.

The state visit ends in Trondheim on the afternoon of April 10, and the presidential couple returns to Iceland on Thursday evening.
