Star Summer arrives in Karlovac: Here’s what you can expect
This year’s Star Summer, a traditional Karlovac event that has been turning the city to four rivers for years into the center of cultural and entertaining events, again brings a number of various programs for all generations. In a duration of more than three weeks, from June 2, until mid -July, Karlovac will become a living stage outdoors.
The event solemnly begins with the concert of Đani Stipaničev in front of the Zorin Dom City Theater, which opens up a rich mosaic of events that includes music, theater, folklore, fine arts and sports facilities. Already on June 24, one of the most anticipated events follows – the Ivanjski bonfire, which is held this year for the 246th time, with the traditional burning of bonfires and fireworks on the coasts of the Kupa.

Culture at every step
Theater lovers can also enjoy performances within the Karlovac Theater Festival this year, which hosts renowned theater houses and productions from all over Croatia. The performances are performed in attractive outdoor locations, further enhancing the experience of culture under the starry sky.

Karlovac Dance Festival – Summer edition brings dance performances and educational workshops, promoting contemporary dance and creativity available to everyone. At the same time, the days of Jewish heritage will enrich the program with exhibitions, concerts and meetings celebrated by the history and culture of the Jewish community in Karlovac.
Music evenings under the stars
For music enthusiasts, the Karlovac Open Air Tribute Festival, a three -day spectacle held on the 26th, 26th and 28th of June at the Šanac Basketball Playground. Visitors are expecting tribute bands who pay tribute to music legends – including Spice Girls VS Backstree Boys Show, The Kristina Show – Tribute to Tina Turner and Queen Sensation – Tribute to Queen. Dance, singing and great atmosphere are guaranteed.

Classical music lovers will be able to enjoy the concerts of the flutist academy, the international Masterclass, which Karlovac turns into the center of flutist art every year. In addition, a spectacular Opera in the bar, performed by the Karlovac Chamber Orchestra of the Karlovac Music School under the direction of Veton Marevci, will provide an unforgettable musical experience in the open air.
Art in urban space
Multimedia festivals such as articles, parking and the Streetart Gallery bring art directly into the everyday life of citizens. Workshops, exhibitions, performances and concerts will be held in city parks, streets and settlements – allowing encounters with art literally « before the doorstep ».
Outdoor film screenings will be organized on the old town of Dubovac, which further rounds out the visual and cultural offer of the Star Summer.
Sport for all generations
Karlovac stands out during the Star Summer as a city of sports. Visitors are expecting numerous sports facilities – from the traditional bicycle « 4 Rivers », the Tennis Tournament « Wimbledon in Karlovac », through football and fencing tournaments, all the way to the City Cup in hunting shooting and chess competition.
Star Summer 2025. It brings more than an ordinary manifestation – it is a multi -day meeting of community, art, sports and tradition. Karlovac thus again confirms his role as a city where summer is not only observed as a season, but as an experience.
