SRS Tax and Customs Police in criminal proceedings with more than 670 kilograms of different drugs / days

During the complex operational measures, the SRS Tax and Customs Police Department initiated criminal proceedings in March this year for a possible criminal offense – the possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for a large extent for the purpose of implementation. During the criminal proceedings, more than 670 kilograms of various types of particularly dangerous narcotic narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as firearms -like objects, were found and removed during the search.

The large amount of narcotic and psychotropic substances removed and their various types point to a possible network of international drug production and smuggling, as well as the fact that part of the drug was to be distributed in the territory of the Republic of Latvia.

The SRS Tax and Customs Police Department shall cooperate closely with the competent authorities at national and international level, both in receipt and support. This time too, cooperation with the State Police and the SRS Tax and Customs Police Department expresses its gratitude to colleagues of the State Police for their support for the initial investigation activities.

The criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 253.1 (3) of the Criminal Law, the composition of the offense provided for in the criminal offense, for large -scale storage of narcotic and psychotropic substances for the purposes of implementation. One person is recognized as a suspect and a security measure – detention.

In the interest of the investigation, no more information will be provided at the moment.

Pursuant to Article 19 of the Criminal Procedure Law, no person shall be considered guilty until its fault is found in the procedure prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Law.
