The leadership of the Narva port increased the measures to ensure navigation security. New navigation signs in two ports were installed on the river – in Narva and Kulga. Some local residents have jokingly nicknamed them with “spy equipment”. However, the lack of coordination with Russian border guards according to traditional buoys can still lead to violations of border crossing and fines. Captains of small vessels and fishermen are urge to be attentive, writes Rus.delfi.

According to the head of the Narva port Anatoly Ivanov, this year navigation signs were installed both on the river and in the Kulgu port. “We are talking about important areas where there are shallows-for example, opposite the RO-RO art club and at the entrance to the Kulga. There are now red and green signs that help to safely go to the port and avoid dangers under water,” Ivanov explained.

The growing interest in water leisure in Narva and Narva-Yesuu is one of the reasons for the strengthening of navigation infrastructure. “Every year the number of boats, yachts, fishing boats increases every year. New clubs appear, more and more descents pass to water. People discover water as a space of rest and travel. It pleases,” Ivanov said.

Indeed, when the reporter talked with the head of the port, a boat was lowered to the river with the help of a crane.

The buoys are not agreed, which means that problems on the horizon

However, despite additional security measures, this year traditional buoys on the border section of the river will probably not be installed. The reason is the lack of an agreement between the Estonian and Russian sides. The authorized Estonian and Russian representatives are still negotiating on the installation of navigation Boers. Several meetings have already taken place, but there are no progress. The police and border guard department does not comment on these negotiations until they are completed, and also cannot say exactly how many more meetings there are.

Previously, the Estonian border service, as a rule, installed 50 navigation boys on the Narva River. They are especially important in narrow places in the river.

“The buoys were exhibited annually. The exception was last year, when some of them were seized by the Russian side,” Ivanov said.

Bui play not only navigation, but also a legal role – they visually indicate a border from which small vessels are required to stay at a distance of at least 20 meters. “It becomes more difficult to navigate without them. This can lead to an increase in violations, especially from scooters, boats and other small ships that often do not have navigation equipment,” Ivanov said.

The absence of border huts creates risks for those who are resting or fishing on the river, especially in the conditions of an increase in water activity. So far, no solution has been found at the diplomatic level, the responsibility for safe behavior lies with everyone who goes to the water.

Responsibility – captains

According to the head of the port, even without Buev, captains are required to know the navigation atmosphere. “This is spelled out in the law. Even if you are a fisherman on a simple boat – you are a captain. You must understand where the border is, where it is aground. Today it is enough to have a smartphone with sea cards and a special application,” Ivanov emphasized.

He also added that those who move quickly on scooters, for example, should especially carefully monitor the route. “It is better to stay closer to the Estonian shore. Then the risk of accidental crossing the border will be minimal.”

Anatoly Ivanov added that Narva, in fact, is surrounded by water: “The river, the sea, the reservoir – everything is nearby, so the interest in the vacation on the water is obvious. At the same time, we are only at the beginning of the way of forming“ water culture ”, a kind of etiquette of communication on the water. As they once learned to ride on the rules on the roads, now many novice captains are learning the culture of behavior on the water. «
