At Easter – to church

This weekend, Klaipeda residents, along with all Lithuania, will celebrate Easter, but there is no official events in the port city on this occasion.

As usual, believers will visit Mass – on Saturday evening the Queen and St. In the churches of Bruno Querfurti.

Until April 25, the 50th anniversary, the festival « Klaipeda Music Spring », is held in Klaipeda, inviting to listen to a cycle of choir concerts. Its program is enriched by the performances of young performers and concerts of the main Lithuanian symphony orchestras.

On April 26, as many as 40 choirs and ensembles will visit the Fishermen’s Palace-over 800 dancers from all over Lithuania will dance at the seventh time at the contest « Klumpakojis », which will be held for the seventh time.

The 99th birth anniversary of the Lithuanian folk dance creator and Professor Juozas Gudavičius will also be celebrated during the festival.

« It is a traditional festival with a deep history, where 40 Lithuanian collectives will come to dance.

According to him, in favorable weather conditions, public choir rehearsals include rehearsals in the Sakura Park.

« We encourage people to follow the news because we will announce it a few hours before the rehearsals. These will be unexpected, short rehearsals, like choir walks in the evening in Sakura Park, » Pronckus revealed, adding that the shows will take place until the sakura blooms in the park.

Easter – in the courtyards

On Sunday, April 27, Klaipeda Ethnocultural Center will invite Klaipeda residents to a free Easter celebration, during which the so-called children’s Easter will take place.

The celebration will be organized in the courtyard of the Arts Museum of Lithuania Minor and the Yard of Klaipėda Puppet Theater.

During the celebration, participants will be waiting for the whole family. The insect hotels will be told, and participants will also be invited to make a « twisted » egg by springing in the clay, trying to rotate the wicker nests.

During the wax, the eggs will be printed and the smallest will be able to color the wooden eggs. Participants are encouraged to bring eggs from the house as well, as they will be held in their mimicry competition.

During the event, there will be a meeting with the sustainability educator Silvestras Dikčius, the festive mood will be created by the presenters Evelina and Gytis Šimelioniai.

Focus – for female choirs

The International Vox Maris Festival of Women’s Choirs and Vocal Ensembles will take place in Klaipėda on 9-11 May.

The performances will be held at the Klaipėda Faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater (LMTA), Klaipėda St. At the Casimir Church, Palanga Blessed. At the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Liepaja St. Dominic in the Roman Catholic Church.

Judita Kiaulakytė, the coordinator of the event, said the festival would take place for the fifth time.

This year it will be organized for the ninth time. The performances of not only Lithuanian but also foreign guests will be presented to Klaipeda residents from 13 to 17 May and May 25 – June 12.

Another May weekend will stand out for a particularly rich program – as many as seven events will take place in Klaipeda on May 16-17.

“Last year, the tradition of combining seven events – ship parade, Albatros, fish day, Meridian’s sails – was successful. This is how we were born in the « Sail to the Summer » – it is this slogan that we will open this summer season. During those few days there will be many events, they will take place on the Danė embankment, theater square, Žvejų Street. We will also have Music Day, and the nights of the museums are also the same weekend, ”said K. Pronckus, organizer of cultural events of the Fishermen’s Palace.

According to him, a cruise ship will arrive on the port city on May 16. Thus, the guests of Klaipeda and the townspeople will open the fair and the fishermen will present the fish of the Baltic Sea.

« We will bake fish again, and almost all sea -related educational institutions will join. We will raise Meridian sails, which are dedicated to the Simon Dach year this year, » Pronckus noted.

In the sky – kite S. Dach

« We are delighted that for the third time the Kite Festival will invite us to our seaside. It is a lot of fun to discover an exceptional element, it is prepared for this year – commemorating the year of Dach, a kite, mimicking Tarava Anike, which is very associated with S. Dach.
