Speaker of the Seimas Lithuania: recognition of Crimea part of Russia would create a threat to world order
The speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Saulus Skernalis stated that he sees a threat to international order in the possibility of recognizing the occupied Crimea part of Russia.
About it, as « European Truth writes », reports LRT.
« The world order, which was established after the Second World War, which established the principle of the inviolability of borders, and a precedent is created that it will be violated. Then territorial claims can be put forward in various ways in Europe, » Parliament leader said on Saturday.
« There is probably no country that would not have any conflict in the territory with its neighbor in the past, » he added.
Squarelis stressed that the worst would be if such a precedent « was confirmed by the Argument of Power. »
« I captured it, and the international community recognizes it. It really cannot be, it is a really dangerous moment that can lead to many regional conflicts, » Parliament leader said.
Lithuanian President Hitanas Nauseda has previously stated that the possible de jure recognition of Russian control over Crimea would “slow -acting bomb”.
So Nauseeda responded to the new statements of US President Donald Trump, who said he said that Crimea should remain Russian.
