SPD unveils its seven ministers in new German government, Pistorius remains defense minister

The Social Democratic Party (SPD) has presented its seven members who, under the coalition agreement, will take over ministerial office in the new German government.

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius will remain in office, Babel Bass will take over the Ministry of Labor, and Karsten Schneider the Ministry of Environment and Nuclear Security.

According to SPIEGEL, SPD co-leader Lars Klingbale, 47, will become Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister of Finance, Verena Huberz, 37, will be a federal minister of housing, urban development and construction, and Stefani (65).

Elizabeth Kaiser, 38, will be state minister and commissioner of the Federal Government for Migration, Refugees and Integration, Natalie Pavlik, 32, State Minister and Federal Government Commissioner for East Germany, and Rome Alabali-Radovan, 35, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation. SPD co-leader Saskia Esken was not considered a ministerial post, and is believed to be unlikely to remain in the party.

Last week, the SPD with the Christian Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU) signed a coalition government agreement, after the CDU and CSU approved the document entitled « Responsibility for Germany ».
