« Society still trapped in the 1990s »: Interlocutors of Danas about the ignorance of young people about the past – society

According to the research conducted by the Initiative The Museum of the 1990s and the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, young people in Serbia are not enough about the 1990s, the city center announced.

As advised in the statement, young people are experienced in the negative light, and these years are associated with wars, conflicts, economic crisis, crime and general social decay. Young people point out that the 1990s are insufficiently informed and that their least clear conflicts and wars. About this period, young people listened to their parents and elderly generations the most, while they at least learned about school.

It is especially interesting that young people point out that the nineties confuse them, they recognize that there are opposed versions of history and that it is very difficult, if not impossible, come to complete truth. Slobodan Milosevic for the great majority of the Sipitanik is a kind of embodiment in the 1990s, and one part of them are just this period binding with resistance and protests.

The research shows that the nineties for young people are not only a clear continuity and the consequences of the 1990s, but also when it comes to ethnic identities and their roles in previous conflicts in relations with members of other ethnic groups on the personal plan.

For such research results, however, our interlocutors say that one of the spells are certainly the fact that many political actors are still present in power or in public life.

Political analyst Dragomir Anđelković, says that young people, but also, in Serbia, they do not usually know enough, and that is not just a situation with the 1990s, but also with the period of Tito, other World War, and so to our medieval history.

– Since we have renounced the authentic Serbian illusion, and later, the Bolshevik and other types of anti-falsely patriotic commitment to Serbs, much of the nation, so-created lies or disgusted from history and politics – explains our Interviewer.

Miljan Mladenović, research analyst, says Serbia that Serbia has not been broken down with those who have led the country during the 1990s, with the exception of the first few years when other things were, understandable, were priority.

– It is precisely the resource that this topic is closed today that there are « more truths », adding it to the fact that young people are mostly heard from their parents, while what they could hear in the media could only be confused in the media.

– However, encouraging the finding that despite the entire media machinery in the 1990s, they did not become known as a good period for most young – concludes Mladenović.

Miroslav Parović, the leader of the National Freedomic Movement, assesses that the main political actors in Serbia are the same ones who have been important during the 1990s and that they do not allow society and the state from the matrix to which it was made. He explains that this is why new generations did not come informed about that time, adding that, in his opinion, a bigger problem was misinformed.

– One topic to think in support of it. The new Minister of Justice was close to Natasha Kandic during the 1990s, and Vučić spread the story about the story that a hundred Muslims should be killed for one Serb. Today, they do without problems, which goes in favor of the thesis that it is at work all the time the company and the state holding trapped – concludes our interlocutor.
