In front of the course participants, a colorful wall full of handles and shapes protrudes, which promises challenges and adventures. The intent to finally do more sport is quickly caught. Perhaps the bouldering will work to implement it into reality. Because behind the sport there is more than just trying to get a wall up quickly.
Health expert and movement therapist Arlow Pieniak explains in his podcast « what moves you – fitness, mindset and health », as it is possible to integrate more exercise into your everyday life. He says: Many started jogging to first improve their perseverance. « The thought is often, I’m not yet ripe for strength training, » says Pieniak. But that is a fallacy. « Strength training is the basis, » emphasizes Pieniak.
No long training sessions at the beginning
The right intensity of the sports units is crucial for beginners. First you should start with two units per week. And: The body burns more energy due to the additional sports pollution, so at least as much must be brought back to it, emphasizes the health expert.
Another typical mistake of sports beginners is to measure the training sessions too long. Especially at the start, these should never be longer than an hour. With strength training, short, but intensive units are most effective. It is important to avoid the fatigue of the body. After a slow start, you should check yourself and adapt the intensity if necessary.
Caution is required in relation to sports influencers. Many people who want to start sports are based on these offers and do the exercises shown there. It is particularly important to get into account for individual physical conditions and the individual fitness level. It is therefore advisable to find a trainer who can help or who can specifically help to start the sporting career. This applies to classic strength training in the gym as well as to a entry -level course in a new sport.
You are never too late for starting
An example of this is bouldering. This is climbing at jump height. The floor in front of the low climbing walls is laid out with thick mats that dampen a fall in the event of the case. The climbing routes are usually built up. But also in the horizontal, tricky routes can arise that challenge coordination and skill.
The coach explains the most important rule in the bouldering hall at the beginning: « Always have a look up, people climb everywhere and can crash at any time. » Then it goes to the right preparation. Warming up is an important part. « The shoulder parts and in particular the wrists must be prepared extensively, » said the trainer. In addition to slowly increasing the routes and regularly changing the different types of grip to improve the grip power, the technology is also an important point.
« Do not make life difficult for yourself. Bouldered out of your legs and not out of your arms. Always pull your legs as soon as possible and not only take the strength out of your arms, » advises the professional. The entire body is quickly used, similar to intensive strength training. Since you are concentrated on climbing, it doesn’t feel that way. You are never too old to start bouldering. So it is never too late to implement your resolutions.
