So Meyer Wermuth was live
The “SP Bi de Lüt”: This was the live podcast premiere of Meyer and Wermuth
The two tips of the Social Democrats go through Switzerland on a podcast tour. They have the audience voted on the topics of conversation.
Two heads, one opinion: Mattea Meyer and Cédric Wermuth at the live podcast in Lucerne.
Democracy can be tedious. The audience in the Lucerne restaurant “Südpol” actually wanted to hear something about the 10 million initiative of the SVP than about Trump or at least about the Juso. The SP party leadership-very base democratic-made these three topics to choose from. And just about the one who ended up a majority, co-boss Cédric Wermuth had made « the least notes » as he admitted.
Together with co-boss Mattea Meyer, he had invited to the live podcast event. In the meantime it pushes numerous such lover formats to the country's stages. The protagonists usually explain love, everyday life or marginal sports such as football or skiing. Meyer/Wermuth is about the world. Or at least for Switzerland. But – at least that evening – not about Trump.
So almost not. But later.
Between lobbies and other relationships
In the first part of the evening, the discussion between the top of the Social Democrats meandered from the 10 million initiative (“very dangerous for the country”) to lobbying in politics (“especially the bourgeois are affected”) to personal relationships in the Federal House (“I cannot drink a beer with everyone after a certain debate”).
Everything is a bit harmless and served without gaining knowledge. But democratically legitimized (the other topics were also chosen by the numerous audiences by Handlehow). It was like a lively episode « SP Bi de Lüt ». Much friendly applause from a friendly -minded audience. Admission price selectable – CHF 15, CHF 25 or 40.
It was almost a little hero cult that the Co Presidium organized. And quite impressive how eloquently the duo put every answer and never lost the joke. But it never seemed withdrawn. They are professionals enough for that. They only used their own person as far as it served. In the end, this was often repeated, the party is only as strong as the sum of all members anyway. There were no two resolutions and three fundamental speeches, and the comrades of the comrades had been given.
Off into the lukewarm water
Fortunately, the playful part came. Meyer and Wermuth “Challengten”. This is new German for challenging. That was actually funny. Wermuth had to answer a colorful 10-question all-rounds in 15 seconds and Meyer had to remember how she had coordinated with various coordination in parliament in the past 10 years-with a respectable hit rate. Here the evening finally got Drive.
The challenges were designed in such a way that they highlighted the strengths of the other characters. Nobody was thrown into the cold water, everything remained lukewarm. But funny.
And then he came: Trump. When Meyer/Wermuth (actually as a duo) should improvise a final speech from PowerPoint presentation, the American president suddenly grinned from the screen. Meyer would like to send him to Mars and Wermuth sees him a danger to the world. Especially in the words of the Aargau National Council, the zeal and real concern about the chaos that Trump is doing in this world were felt.
It would have been the better topic to record a good podcast, you think. Certainly, a lot has been said and written about the Trump bundle flood. But if you simply ignore this and prefer to talk about an SVP initiative instead, normalize all the madness at the end. It is also about « a fight against the oligarchy, » Wermuth called. Applause.
Outside, the SP-CO president concluded a minute later, the bar is still open.
