Snapped the year school in 27. And the last time
The annual school in Sauðárkrókur was terminated the previous day at the 27th. The milestone became that the principal from the founding of the school, Óskar G. Björnsson, broke the school for the last time, but he quit due to age after a successful job.
Árskóli was created when a children’s school and the Saudárkrókur School of Education were merged under one control in the spring of 1998.
In his speech to the school break, Óskar said goodbye to the school with sadness, but at the same time joy and pride in the heart, as the school was well presented and excellent in many areas. He also mentioned that the school was well done, although he was still incomplete and pointed out that MA was still missing facilities for music studies as well as a meeting room where the various events could be held in the school work.
It is safe to say that Óskar was popular in his work, as was clearly stated in the addresses of the co -teachers and the municipal director of Skagafjörður, Sigfús Inga Sigfússon, both among teachers, parents, local councilors and, not least, students. To testify about this, Óskar told of a conversation he had with a teenage girl he once met in the corridors of the school. She asked what he worked other than walking around the corridors and being « nosy »!
Oscar’s successor has been hired, Kristján Bjarni Halldórsson, who previously served as a destination manager at the Northwestern Multicultural School in Sauðárkrókur.
