SMHI: Extensive risk of forest fires

With temperatures expected to rise to around 20 degrees from north to south, Monday gets warm in almost the entire country.

At the same time, SMHI announces that there is a comprehensive risk of forest fires from Skåne up to Västernorrland. In Västra Götaland, the risk of forest fires is extremely high in several places.

– It has been dry for a long time so you need to be aware that fires easily occur and spread, says Linus Falk at SMHI.

Southern Skåne, parts of Småland, Öland and Gotland are exempt from the warnings, according to SMHI.

– There we see that the forest fire risks have been muted after the weekend’s rain, says Linus Falk.

In Norrland’s snow -free areas, SMHI also warns of grass fires – and after the hot Monday, the fire warnings will continue to remain on Tuesday.

SMHI urges private individuals to keep up to date on any fire ban.

In the Halland Hylte is raging Then on Friday a fire in a peat cover. A VMA, an important message to the public, was issued but canceled later.

Now the rescue service is worried about how the heat will affect the fire.

– It is under control but very dry and a strong wind still. Our goal is for it to stay on the area that is burning now and not move on, says Peter Karlborg, guard officer at the rescue service, to SVT Halland.
