Smartphones need to be made more sustainable – new requirements in the summer

Ecuration and energy labeling requirements only apply to new cell phones and tablets, so shops may include both old energy-free and new energy branded products, the release says.

According to Tukes, new requirements aim to extend the life of the equipment, increase their durability and reduce electricity consumption.

It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to ensure that the manufacture of the product is in accordance with legislation and that the mobile phones and tablets to be sold are accompanied by an energy label. On the other hand, the seller's job is to ensure that smartphones and tablets for sale have an energy label and that it is clearly visible.
