Zagreb police officers conducted a criminal investigation into a 44-year-old from one company on suspicion of committing a criminal offense of Estate to the detriment of a company based in Zagreb and four criminal offenses of fraud at the expense of four people.
Specifically, police suspect that the 44-year-old, on January 31, and April 30, 2022, concluded a contract with the damaged company on the lease of two Mercedes, which he took over.
The problem arose when the contract was terminated in August last year and the suspect did not return cars. So he damaged a company for around 83,000 euros.
But that’s not the end. Police suspect that in March 2023 he sold a Mercedes in an area of a circle, a 48-year-old acquaintance, who was supposed to return to the company in exchange for 7500 euros and one Smart and BMW.
After the 44-year-old took money and two Mercedes cars that was not his, he did not hand over the ownership of Mercedes to the 48-year-old and damaged him by about 294,000 euros.
The case goes on. Thus, in November 2024, he set an ad on the internet to sell winter tires. A 39-year-old who paid him 419 euros came to the ad, but of course he never saw the tires, and the 44-year-old did not return the money.
Police suspect that in November 2023, and in March 2024, as the owner of a company from Zagreb, he entered into business cooperation with two men of 48 and 52 years, so that they had previously rented a leasing company in exchange for their vehicles and money.
After taking their vehicles (both Mercedes brands) and money, he did not transfer the ownership of the vehicle to the name of the damaged and stopped reporting to their calls.
Thus, he created material damage of about 498,000 euros. Police took him to custody and filed a report to the competent State Attorney’s Office.
In her statement, the Zagreb Police Department noted that they were conducting further criminal investigations regarding the 44-year-old and a company.
