Slovenia was captured by strong storms, in some places already falling hail

After yesterday’s sunny and warm day, the weather over Slovenia today, on Thursday, in the afternoon deteriorated. Many parts of the country, especially the northeast, have been covered by stronger storms, accompanied by violent rainfall, wind gusts and in some places hail. The Environmental Agency of the Republic of Slovenia (ARSO) issued a yellow warning for the entire country due to storms, for most of the country, with the exception of the northwest, as well as a warning due to the possible stronger wind.

According to the afternoon from Arsa via their account @meteos on the social network X, radar images indicated the development of intensive storm cells, especially in the Velenje, Slovenska Bistrica and Ormož area. Also there, heavy rainfall, wind gusts and hail fall were reported.

Portal Storm.si has also posted readers’ warnings and photos on his Facebook page; The page reported on hail in the village of Strmec near Ormož and in Slovenska Bistrica.

Ars further explained that the storm activity will persist in the evening, and then gradually move to the south and central Slovenia. With heavy rainfall, they point to the possibility of storm water stagnation and rapid rise in torrential watercourses. According to their forecasts, the situation is expected to calm down only on Friday morning, when showers and thunderstorms will subside everywhere, and in most of the country it will be clear.

Today’s deterioration of the weather has also brought about cooling, which, according to ARS, will occur towards evening. The highest daily temperatures today mostly reached 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. It was blowing the southwest, and in some places the north wind, which could be enhanced especially in the lowlands of Prekmurje and Styria.

Portal Storm.si In his analysis, for today, he announced that cloudiness will increase from the north during the day, with the first storms appearing in the north of Slovenia and then spreading to the interior and east. It was estimated that there was a little more potential confident energy in the central part of the country and Styria, which can lead to the development of stronger storms with rainstorms and hail possibility.

For Friday, May 16, Arso announces that cloudiness from the north will grow again, so that during the day in the interior of Slovenia it will dominate the mostly cloudy weather. In northern places, no short -term pavement is excluded.

On Saturday and on Sunday, Arso is expecting a lot of sunny weather, but in the middle of the day and afternoon there will be local showers and individual storms. Temperatures will decrease slightly; From Friday to Sunday, the highest daily temperatures will be largely from 15 to 18 degrees Celsius.
