Slovakia has experienced the first tropical day of the year, but the heat is alternated by heavy storms

BRATISLAVA. Meteorologists recorded on Saturday in Slovakia the first tropical day in 2025. The temperature reached a level of 30 degrees Celsius or more.
The highest was in Šaštín and in Štrkovec, where it was 30.5 degrees Celsius. Thirty degrees also measured Moravian St. John, Slovak Grob and Gabčíkovo.
The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMI) informed about it on the social network.

« It is a relatively early onset of tropical values, it is more common in the second half of May or early June. The last time we measured more than 30 degrees Celsius in early May, it was in 2018.
Warn of storms
Alerts before storms In the districts of Humenné, Snina, Stropkov, Vranov nad Topľou on Saturday increased to the second stage.
In other districts of Slovakia, the first level of alerts are currently valid.
« The occurrence of accompanying phenomena is rare at a given time of year and area, their intensity is above -average and the likelihood of causing material damage is high.
In the districts, a sharp downpour can reach an intensity of 30 to 40 millimeters in 30 minutes. Wind impacts can have a speed of 70 to 110 kilometers per hour. Hapes are also expected.
The second level warnings in some districts are valid until 5 pm, in others until 6 pm. First level warnings are currently valid for the whole of Slovakia by midnight.
In the districts of Bardejov, Svidník, Stropkov, Medzilaborce, Humenné and Vranov nad Topľou there is a stinged flood. Meteorologists have therefore issued a second -level hydrological alert for the upper part of the Bodrog River Basin with preliminary validity until 6 pm, in some districts until 7pm.
Due to the tidal collisions during storms, meteorologists assume a transient significant local rise in water levels, especially on small streams.
« With the possibility of achieving and exceeding water conditions corresponding to the degree of flood activity, » the Institute of Hydrometeorological, the Institute of Hydrometeorological, saying that it assumes the occurrence of accompanying flood phenomena outside the streams.
Strong storms threaten on Sunday
Storm alerts should also be paid in some districts of Slovakia on Sundays, especially in the afternoon.
Meteorologists declared first -level warnings for the entire Košice and Prešov regions, as well as for most districts of the Banská Bystrica region.
The storms may be associated with a sharp downpour and could spill 20 to 30 millimeters of precipitation within half an hour. It is also necessary to count on the wind with speed in impacts up to 85 kilometers per hour and with hail.
« The intensity of the concomitant phenomena is common at a given time of year and the area, but it can cause minor damage. Human activity and endangered health may be limited in storms, » meteorologists said. They also warn against the rise of water levels.
The warnings in the given parts of the country are preliminarily paying from 11.00 to 20.00.
