Skra returns to the sports map of the capital
The city regained the complex at ul. Wawelska 5 in 2021, after 13 years of court battle. For a long time he was practically inaccessible to residents, his technical condition threatened safety. This spring, Warsaw residents will again be able to use 13 hectares of area in the heart of the city, prepared for outdoor recreation. The former Skra will be open, functional and friendly for everyone who wants to practice or simply spend time in the bosom of nature.
During the first stage of modernization of the Wawel Center, a professional athletics stadium with a circular and straight tread was established. There are long jump zones, up, pole and three -leaching, as well as javelin, hammer, disk and shot push. A rugby pitch with natural surface and stands was also prepared. There are cross -country tracks, training devices with fences and slaloms, outdoor gym, calistenic bars.
– The modernized complex at Wawelska Street creates a unique space for everyday movement and relaxation in the open air together with the Mokotowski field. Residents will be able to use it at the end of April – said Renata Kaznowska, deputy president of the Capital City of Warsaw Warsaw.
A modern sports facilities were built at the stadium. The new building includes changing rooms, showers, sanitary facilities, rooms for trainers and judges. There are also stands and a public toilet. Everything was adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. The Wawel Center is managed by the Warsaw Sports Center Active Warsaw.
At ul. Wawelska there will be a place to rest. Alleys covered with mineral surfaces, rain gardens, water reservoir, and a fountain were built. Sunbeds, table tennis tables and chess games were set up. The investment was carried out with concern for greenery. The existing stand has been preserved to a large extent, but there are also new corners. Trees, mainly clones, rowan, birch, lindens, beeches, chestnuts and Ambrows were planted. There were thousands of bushes and perennials. A number of solutions have been used that protect trees. Root screens were used, using existing walls and palisades around the trees. Alele geometry was taken care of. Existing trees were fitted into the land development project.
