Sixth Experimental Cinema Festival Process / Day begins this week
This year, the festival offers six film programs, which will also include performances and lectures. In the sessions, which this year’s curators from three European countries have been present, the authors of many works will also be present, commenting on the works included in the analogue 16 mm format and digitally.
The festival also draws special attention to the works of the region – the festival’s program is expected to be a Baltic experimental cinema and performance program created by Ieva Balode, the festival.
On May 21, the festival is also offered to get acquainted with the festival’s creator, associations free of charge Baltic Analog Lab (BAL) for the works of participants of the International Film School, both in Latvia and in other European countries. Participants of the BAL School will perform at the opening ceremony with the works of the magic lantern led by Melissa Ferrari (USA), accompanied by the Latvian experimental rock band Smoke coffin boys.

A more in -depth insight at the intersection of cinema and performances will be available on May 25, in a discussion led by Curator Martin Grenberger on the practice of expanded cinema; On the closing day of the festival, a lecture and retrospective screening of filmmakers, dedicated to experimental cinema pioneer Kennett Anger, is also expected.
