Six people were injured and one woman sustained severe burns in an attack on a peaceful rally to support Israeli hostages in Gaza, held yesterday in downtown Bowlder, in the US state of Colorado.

The FBI treats the incident as a terrorist attack.

– They are killers! – shouted the attacker while burning people

The attack took place in a popular pedestrian zone on Pearl Street, four city blocks in the heart of Boulder. The gathered participated in Sunday’s walk to support Israeli hostages, organized by the Volunteer Group « Run for their lives ».

A video posted by CNN shows a naked man with two bottles in his hands, saying, « Release Palestine! », « Stop the Zionists! » And « They are killers! » While a policeman with a gun is trying to stop him, witnesses shout: « Throws Molotov cocktails! »

Among the wounded are the elderly – aged 67 to 88 years. Some sustained minor injuries, while others suffered severe burns.

A woman had to throw herself to the ground and rolled over to extinguish the flame.

Soliman stayed in the United States illegally, previously rejected asylum

Police identified the attacker as Mohammed Sabri Soliman, an Egyptian national whose visa expired in 2023. CBS has announced that his asylum application was rejected in 2005, and it is unclear when and how he entered the United States. Authorities have confirmed that he has acted alone and that no other suspects are required.

Soliman was also injured and taken to hospital, but the nature of his injuries is unknown.

Steven Miller, a former Trump adviser and the current deputy head of the White House cabinet, wrote to the X that the Biden administration had given a Soliman tourist visa, which he continued and then a work permit. He called him an illegal immigrant.

The head of the FBI office in Denver, Mark Michalek, said the attacks of how this had become too common throughout the country.

« The attackers continue to threaten communities across the United States, » he said.

The US Department of Justice has called the attack an unnecessary act of violence in the context of recent attacks on Jews in the United States.

The attack comes just a week after another man, also shouting « Free Palestine », killed two Israeli embassy employees in front of the Jewish Museum in Washington.
