Six months in prison for entrepreneur and reality star Peter Gillis for tax fraud via holiday parks

Entrepreneur and television figure Peter Gillis is sentenced to a year in prisonof which six months are conditional. The court in Den Bosch determined that on Tuesday. Gillis was on trial for years of tax fraud through his company Oostappen Group Holiday Parks. He was « the all -determining and steering force behind the fraud, » said the judge. The judge states that Gillis, who claimed to have his holiday parks in February soldconservatively estimated for more than half a million euros in tax has evaded.

Gillis became known for the still running reality series Gillis family: Mass is cash register on SBS6. He did not keep up with correct administration, provided the tax authorities with incorrect information and did not make his tax return on time. « Under his leadership, the company committed tax fraud by consciously keeping a flow of money outside the administration for at least five years, » the court judges.

The Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service (FIOD) discovered that between January 2014 and May 2019 the company held rental for permanent residence outside the reservation and booking system and had cash paid. These tenants were not registered or the registration was destroyed afterwards. The time registration and time notes from ‘foreign European employees’ were also destroyed. For example, a conscious flow of money was kept outside the administration for years.  »

Partly because he has never been convicted of tax fraud, Gillis is not imposed a professional ban. The ruling is slightly lower than the Public Prosecution Service’s requirement. That had demanded eighteen months in jail, six of which were conditional.

The judge also considers the involvement of Gillis’ daughter and ex-wife. They receive a conditional prison sentence of six months and a community service sentence of 240 and 180 hours respectively. The Gillis company receives a conditional fine of 250,000 euros. The company does not get the nearly 250,000 euros in cash seized during the investigation.
