Six European countries sign joint statement to condemn intensification of attacks in Gaza
A joint statement, subscribed by six European countries, condemns Israel’s new plan for the Gaza Strip, which provides for the intensification of the attacks.
In the statement, signed by Spain, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway and Slovenia, it can be read that the Israeli plan to widen “its military operations” in Palestine “would exceed one more limit, mark a new climbing and endangered any perspective on a viable solution for two states (Israel and Palestine)”.
In this sense, countries say that an intensification of attacks will “aggravate the situation already catastrophic for the Palestinian civilian population and endanger the lives of hostages that remain in captivity”.
« We firmly reject any demographic or territorial change in Gaza, including any plan that force or facilitate the permanent displacement of its population, which would be a violation of international law. We also go firmly to a system that does not guarantee that the whole population has access to humanitarian aid. Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian state, which belongs to the Palestinian people, » reads the declaration of the six heads of diplomacy of these countries.
The text, according to international news agencies, recalls that Israel’s forces in the country are preventing humanitarian aid from reaching the population and, therefore, asks Telavive to « raise the block immediately. »
« It is essential to facilitate help to all civilians who need it, without discrimination, and respect the other humanitarian principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality, » argue the six countries.
