Extreme waves, especially in the states of New South Wales and Victoria, caused a fatal danger on the coasts.

In Australia, at least six people have drowned over the Easter days as a result of the high waves off the coast. As the police in the state of New South Wales reported, a fisherman was recently recovered on a rocky coastal section at Wattamola Beach near Sydney on Easter Sunday. A 14-year-old guy who was on the boat with him could therefore be revived and is in the hospital in stable state.

On Holy Saturday, another fisherman was thrown into a rocky coastal section in New South Wales. On Good Friday, three people were also drowned in New South Wales. A woman died near the metropolis of Melbourne in the state of Victoria after being pulled into the sea by the current. According to the authorities, a total of three other people were also missing.

630 deaths in ten years

On Maundy Thursday, the water rescue organization SLSA had warned against life -threatening waves, especially off the coasts of New South Wales and Victoria. A total of 630 people have died of beaches without a emergency service in the past ten years.
