Simultaneous inspections throughout the country: Legal proceedings to hundreds of drivers, dozens of vehicles have been banned from traffic – Cyprus Newspaper

Nicosia, Kyrenia, Güzelyurt and İskele regions between 10-11 May 2025 between 22.00-02.00 hours by the police teams were extensive public order and traffic inspections. In the inspections, entertainment venues, casinos and public areas were checked, and a large number of traffic crimes were detected.

A total of 1,082 vehicle drivers were checked in traffic inspections. 253 drivers were reported for various traffic crimes, 40 vehicles were banned from traffic. Among the most common crimes were to exceed the speed limit (100), to use unlicensed vehicles (33) and not to wear a seat belt (17).

Similar audits were carried out in Kyrenia. While the negativity was not detected in entertainment venues, 28 people were illegally in casinos and legal proceedings were initiated against them.

324 of the 1,727 vehicles controlled by traffic teams were reported due to different violations. 23 vehicles were banned from traffic. In the audits, 100 people were traded for speed violations, 9 people using alcoholic vehicles and 16 people without insured vehicles.

750 vehicles were checked in Güzelyurt

Güzelyurt entertainment venues, coffeehouses and betting houses were not detected while inspection. 750 vehicle drivers were checked in traffic. 109 drivers were fined. Speed ​​violation (96) and not to wear a seat belt (8) was among the most common crimes.

49 vehicles were banned from traffic in pier

In the inspections carried out in the pier region, no problems were detected in the places where the public was intense. In the casino inspections, 23 people were legal proceedings.

A total of 1,020 vehicle drivers were inspected in traffic, 204 were reported for various crimes. 49 vehicles were banned from traffic. The most remarkable violations include 99 speed violations, 5 alcoholic driving and 35 navigation unlicensed vehicles.
