President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, who attended the concert of pianist Simon Trpceski in Rome last night as part of the « Macedonia in honor of St. Cyril » event, said that no one would forget that night and that it was another confirmation of the power of cultural diplomacy.

-I’m not words, the first ambience of « Horti Salustiani » is wonderful, not to speak of Simon Trpceski and his group. Of course, besides Tchaikovsky and Grig, they also performed with « Macedonia ». I think that all the excellent on the embassies, representatives of our diaspora, not only in Italy, but also from other countries left without breath – said Siljanovska – Davkova.

According to her, « the concert was for admiration, a common enjoyment » attended by the Minister of Culture Zoran Ljutkov, along with the priests, who are part of the state-church delegation in Italy.

« I think no one will forget this evening, that’s another confirmation of the power of cultural diplomacy, » added Siljanovska -Davkova.

She pointed out that the Italians are refined when it comes to music, that they have taste and strict criteria, but thinks that after what they heard « the attitude towards Macedonian culture will be changed ».

« And, I say again that I believe that besides traditional diplomacy, cultural diplomacy is our most powerful weapon, » said President Gordana Siljanovska -Davkova.

As part of a visit to Rome on the occasion of the Day of the Slavic Enlighteners, she laid a wreath yesterday in front of the Macedonian-language memorial plaque in honor of the work of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius located in the Santa Maria Madzore Basilica.

Siljanovska – Davkova and the delegation also visited the tomb of Pope Francis.

The Macedonian delegation at the San Clemente Basilica in Rome attended a prayer at the tomb of St. Cyril on the occasion of the celebration of May 24-the Day of the Slavic Enlightenment, with which the Metropolitan of Tetovo-Gostivar Mr.

President Siljanovska – Davkova tomorrow in the Vatican will have the audience with the new pope Leo 14 and a meeting with cardinal Pietro Parolin.
