Siljanovska Davkova: Copenhagen criteria will make us a standard European state
Copenhagen criteria are the ones that will make us a standard European, boring state, and the veto is not a friendly instrument, I expect understanding, and of course we must in the meantime have to make the state agenda, economic, culturally develop, said President Gordana Siljanov
Evaluating them as a traditional friendly relations with Croatia, which he said in all spheres, the president said that he would never be forgotten that in 2020 during the Croatian EU presidency we took the step along with Albania.
-This is a sign of understanding, a sign of support. Croatia, despite being an EU member, has an understanding of regional needs, has an understanding of the Western Balkans. Many times the president reiterates that we are a geographical, cultural, historical part of Europe. In terms of our waiting for the EU I repeat that I believe that the Copenhangen criteria are the ones that will make a standard European dull state, that the veto is not a friendly instrument, that I expect understanding. Of course we have to push the state agenda, because the legitimacy springs from the citizens, I think economically, culturally, to develop scientifically – said Siljanovska Davkova.
The president added that the country is very forward in terms of harmonization with Akito and noted that our problems are of a different nature.
– Our problems are of another nature, our problems are bound, which is very strange to history, the perception of culture, and even the language, things that are not discussed and negotiated. I think the veto will continue to cause problems, we will not remain a lonely case and that in some way we need to look for our place within the Copenhagen criteria – she said, adding that good neighborly relations are very important.
Milanovic, who, as he noted, is on the first official visit to the country after taking office of President Siljanovska Davkova, stressed that it was not here for what she said, but stressed that the state should not tolerate any extortion in exchange for EU membership.
– You get a lot of tips, from your neighbors, from international diplomacy, from the EU, not all those tips are smart, nor useful to you … You are the ones who will decide what is important to you. Just do not be a victim of any coercion, extortion, when it comes to EU membership – the Croatian president said.
