Sidrene prices from today in stores: ‘Consumers will be easier to monitor the price increases’
Merchants from today must also highlight the so -called. An anchor price, the one from May 2, with regular, for numerous products. The goal is to compare the prices and consumer protection. Hrvoje Paver from the Croatian Chamber of Commerce trade sector (HGK) for HRT commented on what it means to consumers.
– This measure is part of the wider measures of the Government of the Republic of Croatia in an effort to inflation from the protection of consumers, especially the most vulnerable consumer groups. This measure is not covered by all products found in stores, but they produce wide consumption, such as food, liquids, toilet accessories, household needs. Everything that citizens spend the most in some daily consumption is covered by this measure. And for sure the price comparison on May 2 and the prices, which are currently a consumer today, will give a space to decide whether to buy products in this or other trade – Paver said.
The application is expected to compare the prices for certain products in all stores.
– The decision is that the large retail chains, mean – disconters, cash and carry, large retail chains in general, must advertise on websites for the products that have anchor prices. In this case, consumers will be able to compare one, second and third retail chains. It is an obligation for large retail chains and discs, but not for small merchants – Paver pointed out.
For merchants, for example, if a product on May 2, it cost 3 euros, and maybe then a couple of months after that 6 or 7 euros.
– Yes, but there is another question. Traders are the last in a row according to consumers. Retail as such has prominent prices and then customers are angry with merchants if any price is elevated. But, however, wholesalers are there, as well as manufacturers with their share in the price. Simply, the merchant has to form his price in relation to the price he receives from wholesale – said Paver.
The fact that the distributors had already announced on June 1st, maybe some new price increases Paver said that then it would definitely be seen that the price on May 2 was one and the other on June 1.
– We cannot say the merchant is then to blame, but the consumer will definitely see how much the price of an individual product has changed during that period – said Paver.
The State Inspectorate announced controls.
– As a relatively short deadline for this Regulation, that is, the decision was made on May 2, and today on May 15, when it entered into force, we expect that the state inspectorate, if he sees that a merchant has not printed prices as requested in the decision, that it may not go immediately with penalization, but with some warning to the merchants.
Some traders have thousands of products that have to put on both the current price and the price that was valid on May 2. So the big job is in front of merchants, that is, the largest part has already been done, and if something is left out, we apologize in advance and hope that the State Inspectorate to the merchants will have an understanding in this context – Paver commented.
