Si Jinping calls for deepening of the strategic partnership between China and South Korea
Chinese President Si Jinping said today that China and South Korea should raise their strategic partnership to a higher level to provide greater benefits to both nations and bring greater security in the unstable regional and international context, the Xinhua news agency reported.
In a telephone conversation with South Korean President Lee J-Mion, he once again congratulated him on the victory in the presidential election, stressing that the two countries are close neighbors who cannot move away from each other. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 33 years ago, the two sides exceeded the ideological and systemic differences, actively developing exchange and cooperation in different areas, resulting in joint success and development, Si said.
He added that healthy, stable and deepened relations between China and South Korea are in line with the spirit of time, serve the basic interests of both nations and contribute to regional and global peace, stability, development and prosperity. The two countries urge to continue to adhere to the initial goal of establishing diplomatic ties, nurturing good neighborliness and friendship, and striving for mutual benefits.
According to him, the two sides need to strengthen the dialogue at different levels and in various areas to increase strategic confidence, promote bilateral partnerships and multilateral coordination, protect multilateralism and free trade and provide stable global and regional industrial and supplies. SE also emphasized that China and South Korea should deepen cultural exchange to improve mutual understanding and strengthen public support in order to instill friendship between the two nations.
He noted that the two countries should respect the basic interests and key issues of the other side to ensure that bilateral relations develop in the right direction, which will guarantee a stable and sustainable development of Chinese-South Korean relations.
South Korean President Lee J-Mion has expressed hope for more active exchange and co-operation in economics, security and culture, his spokesman Khan Fu-Jun said.
