Shortened service time in swimming pool and at a library

« This is no different for us than with other municipalities. We need to look at everything, » says Thor Sigurgeirsson, mayor of Seltjarnarnes.

Various proposals for optimization in the town’s operations were approved by the municipal council these days. This is done to meet the cost of new teachers’ collective bargaining agreements, according to Thor. The impact of the contracts is estimated at ISK 106 million this year and 160 million on an annual basis.

One of the approved is to shorten the town’s swimming pool service. Reducing the open on red days, opening the pool later on weekends than it has been and shorten the time by an hour on weekdays.

Thor says that it has not yet been decided whether these changes will take effect before or after the summer.

Shorten Library’s turnaround time

It has also been decided to shorten the library’s turnaround time in the town by half an hour each, from 18.30 to 18.

In addition, ISK 50 million savings should be achieved in the school field without it, even though it is affecting the service. This optimization will be implemented in the next school year.

Morgunbladid has reported that the working hours of young people in the work school will be reduced this summer.

Further optimization is under review. « We also look at the construction field and more. But it will still be paved and the town made beautiful this summer. It’s not empty bored. »
