Shock at the Halemba mine. Two miners wounded
Around 20:30 there was a strong shock underground, which was also felt on the surface – it was reported by residents, including Katowice, Zabrze and Siemianowice Śląskie.
– I confirm that the shock took place in the movement of the Halemba Ruda Coal Mine. The evacuation of the crew from the endangered region is underway – the spokeswoman of the Polish Mining Group, Ewa Grudniok, said in an interview with PAP. She added that the details, including the shock force, is underway.

Shortly after a strong shock underground, the crew was immediately withdrawn from the dangerous region. According to a spokeswoman for the Polish Mining Group, Katarzyna Grudniok, the incident occurred in the mining wall No. 2 at a depth of over a kilometer – exactly 1030 meters. The shock force has been estimated at 5×10⁷ Dżuli, which corresponds to Magnitude 3.1 on the Richter scale. Local media and social media users reported that in nearby towns the « swaying » of the land could be felt.
Around 22:00 Grudniok reported that all employees were already evacuated. At the time of shock, 33 people stayed in the endangered region, of which 12 were directly in the area of the wall.
Two miners were injured. « They were conscious during the evacuation and in contact, » said the spokeswoman. She added that medical emergency teams will deal with them on the surface, which will perform initial diagnostics.
