Kathmandu. Nepalese Sherpa Kami Rita (55) broke his own world record on Tuesday and 31 times he climbed the world’s highest mountain in Mount Everest.

He did so more than 30 years after his first output, reports AFP.

« Great congratulations to the legendary Sherp Kami Rit to his 31st successful output to Everest – the highest number of outputs in history, » said the organizers of the expedition, Seven Summit Treks.

« There is no need to introduce Sherpa Kami Rita. It is not only a national climbing hero, but also a global symbol of Everest himself, » the company added.

Rita was accompanied by a group of Indian soldiers at his 31st.

Rita was born at the foot of Mount Everest in the ethnic community of Sherpov. He started his career as a carrier and later worked on a climbing guide.

He first performed at Mount Everest in 1994 and has been returning to the summit regularly every year. In addition to Everest, he also performed several other « eight thousands ».

Sherpa Pasang Dawa with 29 outputs is the nearest Sherpa Pasang. This season, he managed to climb the top of the world’s highest mountain twice, the expedition company Climbing the Seven Summits said.

The recorder who does not belong to the sash is Brit Kenton Cool with 19 outputs.
