Alina (24 years old) lived with a two -year -old daughter in a tent in Gdańsk for almost two months. It was November 21, 2022, when police found them there.

– Everything fell apart from poverty. My daughter is my whole life – a young mother told us then. And she told how she lost her roof over her head.
The homeless, she said, stayed in installments. She fell in love, then Natalka appeared in the world. – I kept my family myself. My husband did not give us any support, he sat in front of the computer all day. After returning from work, I found a hungry and unpaid child – she said.
Just before Christmas Eve, she decided to leave. She asked her friends for help. She met them on the web. She moved from Lublin to Łobz (West Pomeranian Voivodeship), but after a few months and they lost their rented apartment.

– That’s why we decided to look for a job in Gdańsk. I asked my husband for help, but he did not respond to messages. I was hoping that we would wait a moment in the tent, and at that time I would put the money to rent something – Alina told « Fakt ».
Natalka then went to the hospital. « He has acute pharyngitis and nose, it’s a cold, » she gave us then sub -inspector Magdalena Ciska, spokeswoman for the police in Gdańsk.
Alina and the young couple accompanying her got the support of the Municipal Family Support Center. However, they did not want to live in a special center. All three, together, returned to a wandering life again.

On February 14, a drama took place in the allotment gardens in the gazebo, in which they lived. A fire broke out, and two young women died on the spot. They were Alina and her three years older friend Paulina. The woman’s husband was injured, but his life was not in danger.
We know that Alina and Paulina had a very strong bond. They were friends, but they also decided to live like homeless people. 30-year-old Paulina had a difficult past. After they lost their jobs and a flat, their children were taken away. They went to an orphanage.

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk revealed, which could have caused the tragedy. It is known that no one has heard the allegations in this matter.
The initial opinion of an expert for a fire involvement participating in the inspection of the fireplace show that the fire could have occurred as a result of the fire of the objects gathered in the gazebo. The fire probably came from a stove placed on a gas cylinder. The final opinion in the field of firefighting will be prepared by an expert after obtaining the postal protocols. The investigation remains in progress
