« Each role is intended for a different age, there is no point in fighting it, because it is a normal, natural development. The character, who is 50 years old, will not play twenty. Especially let it be a good role and make it sense in it, ”she said in an interview with the Corsair on the Margo of the Cult of Youth. She also revealed what pleases her most and when she still has stage fright.

We meet on the occasion of your award Košice self -governing region at the National Theater in the heart of Košice. Have you ever played in this theater?

Not. But a moment, I already remember that we have hosted with the Radošinský naive theater when I was a third at the Academy of Performing Arts. Who knows if I will ever play in the Košice National Theater, but it would be nice.

What are you working on now?

Now I have closed three larger projects – hunter, crime county 2 and touch of life. All of this went in the stream for almost two years. I felt inherently that I had to take a little break, pause and quiet, so I was now at home in California for four months. Now I’m back and preparing new things that are currently being born.

Home is California for you?

Unambiguously. I feel at home and in Prague, where I have a temporary home, and I visit Slovakia and family.

So the village of Tahanovce, where do you have roots from?

I like going there, even if my grandmother no longer lives. But it’s always nice to visit the family. The grandmother, however, was the root that connected us with the house and the whole environment.

In California you have a son who will be in college in a year. Do he still need you?

He needs a too strong word, but anyway he enjoys it when I’m there. All the service around cooking and everyday pleasant contact.

What is the most pleased you recently?

Just the successes of my Son. I can really move away from my world and I am very happy when he is doing what he is doing.

What success is it?

He is a big baseball player, he has started for a good career. Basically, I experience it enough with him. He also trains a small league, so he earns money by preparing young children.

So he didn’t go in an artistic direction at all?

Not. When he was little, he found himself with me at various shooting, saw it, experienced, but it didn’t appeal to him.

To hear after so many years on your accent in America that you are not from there?

Hear that in my case. It depends on what age you will come to the country. Talking a 100 % American accent is not as easy as it seems.

Which role do you value the most?

I really appreciate all of them because they moved me to the next one and it had its meaning. In the theater, however, it would probably be Jelena from the performance of the scene from the house of the Bessmen family, directed by Roman Polák. That was my first big theater piece after the cherry set. That was a beautiful experience. And then the role of Estelle from the show No Exit, which we did in Los Angeles. Of the serial characters, it would probably be Linda from the series to the Ears.

These are quite diverse tasks. What helps you feel a role that is not natural to you?

All the more imagination and observation I have to engage. Although it is true that one draws to a large extent from himself, otherwise it is not possible. It’s always a challenge. And the bigger the contrast, the better, the bigger the fun. One can afford to extend from a comfortable zone, go out of civilism and play it all differently – gestures, voice, expression …

You also played with Leonard DiCaprio, who you said he was still in his role while filming, even though he was not just on the camera. Did you try it too?

Yes, when it is a character that requires full concentration. For example, in the hunter project, where I played a demon hunter. If it is a role larger and more demanding, it also takes higher mental-physical connection. Then it is important to rest properly and indulge in some form of relaxation so that one does not go crazy.

Is it a bigger challenge to play a nurse or criminalist?

I don’t know, it’s hard to say, a midwife for me was a new type of character. And I really liked that I had the opportunity to get into another female position, such a warmer, softer, more fragile than the hard investigator. Every person has a broader spectrum of what it is. Let me say that this is the desire of every actor to be able to play contrasting characters.

Do you have any of your dream character you would like to play?

Maybe in a period film or in a fairy tale. Something that is out of this time.

Some actresses tend to complain after their fifties that they seem to suddenly become invisible and less occupied. Are you not worried about it?

Not. Each role is intended for a different age, there is no point in fighting it, because it is a normal, natural development. The character, who is fifty years old, will not play twenty. Especially let it be a good role and make it sense in it.

How do you cope with the failure and criticism of your work?

There are times when it sometimes touches me, I think about what the critic meant. But, of course, there is so much nonsense on the Internet that I have to take it with caution and not deal with it. If it were from the people I care about or who are close to me, it would probably have a greater impact on me. But the boulevard a Facebook And I really don’t care about instagram comments.

Are you active on social networks?

Slowly, I have to say. Mostly only for the promotion of projects. I started quite late and this world is not so close to me and I am not sovereign in it.

Do you ever have stage fright again?

I have, especially before things with which I do not have a lot of experience, such as moderation and prices for which there is a greater degree of improvisation. I have respect before and admire people who can do it with ease. It is important to know your limits.

Now you have been awarded the Košice self -governing region. Which award of your acting work is it for you? Do you have them counted?

I don’t have because I haven’t received any significant prizes yet. In America we won the NO exit theater award from Sartra, which we did in Los Angeles. In Košice, this is the first award and I am grateful to the city that it has been one of such amazing and talented personalities.
